PHILADELPHIA – A huge congratulations to 6-5 center Amari DeBerry (Williamsville South, NY – UConn) and 6-1 wing Sonia Citron (Ursuline Academy, NY – Notre Dame) the two latest Belles to be selected to the 2020 McDonald’s All-America team roster. It goes without saying that Belles point guard Olivia Miles (Blair Academy, NJ – Notre Dame) would’ve made the roster if the present rules allowed for players who opted out of their senior year to go directly to college was exempted for 2020.
All three members of the 2020 Belles U17 National Team were member of the 2019 USA Basketball U16 gold medal team. All senior high school members of the USAB U16 team made the McDonald’s list except for Miles and Saylor Poffenbarger who went to UConn early.
Because of the basketball shutdown from last March into this Fall, especially high school basketball in various sections of the country for a variety of time and reasons, there will be no official McDonald’s game in 2020. This will be the second year in a row that McDonald’s has cancelled their All-Star game which was usually held in late March or early April.
