Spring 2009 Philadelphia Belles National Nike Travel Team INFORMATION and Event Schedule

The Philadlephia Belles is the ONLY Nike National Travel Team program in the Greater Metro Philadelphia area stretching from nothern suburbs of Washington DC to New York City suburbs in Nothern New Jersey. We are the primary travel program for the Greater Philadelphia Girls Basketball Nike Regional Allicance. (GPNRA).

BELLES SPRING TRYOUTS - February 8th to March 8th at the various sites listed below.

We will have two workout sessions during the winter months of November / December / January for winter and player workouts. The Sunday workouts are for those who want additional time. Make sure you contact an age-group coach at the event or by phone below to make sure you are on the Belles list of players interested in making a 2008 Travel Team in the spring. BELLES NIKE NATIONAL TRAVEL TEAM TRYOUTS / PRACTICE SCHEDULE

We will have open workouts - available to all players - starting Sunday November 11th at the RiverWinds Community Center in Thorofare, NJ. The RiverWinds site will run from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. - the cost is $10 per day.. This will cover gym rental and staffing.. This workout schedule will be available from November 11th to December 23rd (7 weeks) and then from January 6th to February 17th (7 weeks). Check back on this site at regular intervals to see if there are closed dates due to circumstances..

We will have no more than two teams per age group - except at 16s where we will have 3 teams. Make sure you contact us early about trying out for our 2009 teams.

We will have a Belles Skills Clinic on MARCH 28th at (CHANGE) - Tri-State Complex, [63 Concord Rd. Aston, PA 19014] from 9 am to 12 pm for POST PLAYERS, 12noon to 3 pm for GUARDS, 3 pm to 6 pm for WINGS. This is a change from our traditional team breakdown. Please bring your basketball. I will post a special team breakdown page by Friday that will tell you your exact time. Some players may attend two sessions or more. Contact your coach if you don't know your group. Please make sure to refhresh your webpage to view updates. Cost included in spring membership.

We will have a Belles Spring Coaches Clinic featuring Dr. Anthony Pappas on Sunday morning, March 29th from from 9 am to 11am for our Belles Coaches and other invited guests. Following we will have team practices and special workouts. This will be discussed on Saturday March 28th with those present.

All players welcomed to participate in the Philadelphia Shooting School - Spring Session

This our second skills development program being produced by our Belles coaches to help develop shooting skills, shooting repetitions and abilities that can not be covered either during the high school season nor during the AAU - Travel Team season due to team development constraints. This is for the advanced and beginning player seeking to work on shooting skills. You can chosoe between high energy, competitive enviroment or simple repititions. The program will start in the spring after the Grade School season on Tuesdays at RiverWinds and other facilities and is 10 sessions, 90 min each and limited to 12 player slots. THERE IS NO TRYOUT FEE FOR THE PHILADEPHIA BELLES NATIONAL NIKE TRAVEL TEAM PROGAM TRYOUTS. However, you will be charged a $10 facility charge when you attend any Belles Travel Team tryout. This is to ensure open access and equal opportunity for all participants.

TRYOUTS FOR BUCKS COUNTRY AND MONTGOMERY COUNTY

UPPER DUBLIN HIGH SCHOOL -- 800 Loch Lash Ave. Ft. Washington, PA 19034 -- We will be using the back gym for these tryouts and workouts. The facility is minutes from the PA Turnpike off Rt. 309 in Ft. Washington. PA

COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL OF THE SACRED HEART -- 480 Bryn Mawr Avenue, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010 - We will be using the main grym at the school.

OVERVIEW OF BELLES TRYOUT PROCESS

During the FALL we have open workouts for all returning players and those new players who wish to moe to the Belles program before the winter-spring season.

Tryouts for the Philadelphia Belles Nike Travel Teams takes place each spring starting February 8 through March 8. During this one-month period the Belles conduct open tryouts and open workouts each Sunday at TWO Philadelphia area location and at RiverWinds Community Center in Thorofare, NJ (across the river from Phila. airport). THERE IS NO FEE TO TRYOUT! You do have to pay a $10 per workout-day gym rental fee to the Belles site person.

We will also hold regional tryouts during this time for younger teams (9-u to 12-u) in Delaware County, Montgomery County, Bucks County, Northeast Philadelphia and South Jersey over a two-week span starting in February.

Each player is invited to come to our workout with their parent(s) and watch our drills, practice and speak with parents who have chosen to the bring their daughter to one of the nation's premier programs.

Players who are in our program come from as far away as New York, Maryland, Delaware and New Jersey. Some parents travel 3.5 hrs one-way to attend the Belles weekend practices for the daughter. Most of our players do come from the major 12-county metro Delaware Valley area including South Jersey and Delaware.
After mid-March we form at least two teams in each age group for participation in a number of tournaments. We play a very extensive and aggressive schedule with the older players. For the younger players we concentrate on skill development and fundamentals. We play a strong, limited schedule for the younger divisions.
We strongly urge you to come down and see what the Belles has to offer. We invite you to call for information about the Belles other than what is provided at this web site and to attend a Belles practice / open workout for you age level. Remember, the Philadelphia Belles is not for everyone.
We strive to give the female athlete the best "athletic education" available. We look forward to seeing you at the Belles.

DIRECTION TO RIVERWINDS COMMUNITY CENTER

FROM WALT WHITMAN BRIDGE: (FROM DELCO-NE PHILA-MONTCO- I-76) Take I-95 North or South to reach the Walt Whitman Bridge. Continue on Rt. 42 south towards the New Jersey shore. Stay in the far left lane until you reach I-295 South exit (there will also be one on the far right). Take this exit and continue on I-295 South to Exit 21. At bottom of ramp (Wendy's) make a right turn. Go to first light (Wawa) and make a left. Continue on this road through two lights until you reach the river and complex. Enter on the far left side of the building.

FROM COM. BARRY BRIDGE: (FROM DELCO-DEL.) Take I-95 North or South to reach the Commodore Barry Bridge (Rt. 322 East). Continue on Rt. 322 East towards towards signs for Rt. 130 and I-295. Take I-295 NORTH exit. Continue up I-295 North to Exit 21. At bottom of ramp make a left turn. Go to first light (Wawa) and continue straight through light. Continue on this road through two lights until you reach the river and complex. Enter on the far left side of the building.
